.Music. .for. ghosts. means humble sounds for all ghosts, dead or alive. We know what we are talking about.
Recorded winter 2023-2024.
Notes:
I wanted something smooth, a little smart and to generate a 'confortably numb' atmosphere.
Inspiration comes from 4 sources.
The first is The Watchmen by Moore / Gibbons / Higgins. I read it as a kid and it was ok, no more. I read again it 30 years later and well... I was deeply frightened. This affects tracks 1 and 3: a turning point with or without come-back.
The second is The Fearless Vampire Killer by Roman Polanski. I remember playing it on an old VHS young and I loved it. I played it dozen of times during The Aurore sessions. Dusty, mean, ugly, funny vampires. Far away from the usual images of them. They could be the living .ghosts. It affects all tracks and titles of tracks and of the album. The structure of the album. The atmosphere. But I took no samples from the OST.
The third is of course Biosphere, mainly Substrata for tracks 1-5 for the structure track not for acuracy of the sound (I like a bit of Lo-fi in what I do). I've met Gerd as a kid at a Bel Canto gig in L'Aeronef Lille, France, circa 1991, because an older friend was close to the place manager and I loved them (my 3rd gig I think). I said "i've met" but it was more "hey!" holding tiny right hand. Of course I was hypnotized by Anneli Marian. It was a cold black and white night. Black ok. White because it snowed. Anneli Marian was dancing with her snowboots on the l'Aeronef scene (old place) singing "....my footsteps in snow". Oh, it was a fairy tale.
The last is only for track 6. At the beginning there was only 5 tracks on this album. But I saw a Pram gig end of Mar 24. I was mixing MFG. And, well, just coming back home I put my gear on, started searching my samples and sequences and tried to put in sounds what I felt few hours before. In a week it was backed. I had Pram in my discography for a while and liked it but this time it inspired me. It's not a cover, includes no samples from Pram. It's more a tribute.
Just to conclude: I used no PC no DAW until mastering which was made for CD.
